Frequently Asked Questions
The short version:
1. Select your advertised maximum internet speed from the "connection speed" slider bar. (the maximum available bandwidth, in kilobits per second, not your LAN speed).
2. Choose your Network Adapter, or check to "Modify All Network Adapters" (especially if using another type of connection).
3. Choose the "Optimal settings" radio-button near the bottom of the program.
4. Click "Apply changes", and reboot when prompted by the program.
The right way: Learn what all the settings mean by reading the documentation and our tweaking articles, ask questions in our forums and tweak the settings accordingly using The Optimizer in custom mode :)
Notes:
You may also want to read the TCP Optimizer online documentation.
Version 3 of the Optimizer adds Windows Vista, Windows 7 and 2008 Server support.
Version 4 adds Windows 8, 10, 2012 Server R2 support.
Help with custom TCP Optimizer settings can be found in the documentation, and you can ask specific questions on our forums.

by Abdulla Masud - 2015-05-01 17:44 Hi, This program worked great for me at first but after doing a malware scan (which moved certain files to quarantine), my ping while playing went high. So I decided to use SG TCP optimizer again. This time it doesn't seem to work. When prompted to reboot, I click "yes" but my computer will not reboot. I can't even restore my backup settings. Best Regards,
by Philip - 2015-05-01 19:42 Please use our forums for personal support. Abdulla, you most likely still have some type of malware remnants on your machine, try running MalwareBytes Antimalware, AdwCleaner, and a virus scan.

by MAOCUBO - 2016-04-17 20:38 hello windows 10 it's reverting some of the values after running TCP optimizer at windows restar. can someone help me stop the windows from reverting the values?
by Chris - 2020-10-23 17:20 Please help, it says it needs to reboot my computer to apply the changes and all it does is restart my pc then doesn't apply the changes.
by Philip - 2020-10-26 11:16 Changes are applied before the computer is restarted, the moment you click the "Apply" button. Not all settings are read by the TCP Optimizer at startup (some are Network Adapter specific, others can't be read or are ambiguous). Please use our forums for specific questions.
